PEOPLE Barbara G. Schanker, President & CEO Ms. Schanker has been a practicing accountant since 1978. She is the founder and President of BGS Services, Inc. In 1989, Ms. Schanker formed BGS Services, Inc., a New York based accounting firm, offering accounting, tax and bookkeeping services to small and medium sized businesses, as well as individuals. Ms. Schanker began the company with a specific goal, to bring her extensive experience, gained at Fortune 500 companies, to smaller businesses. Ms. Schanker believes that small companies should have the same advantages as their larger counterparts. Prior to founding BGS Services, Ms. Schanker was a Vice President and officer at Bankers Trust Company, in charge of their Accounting Operations. She previously served as an Accounting Manager for Bristol-Myers Company and Gertz Department Stores. Before that, Ms. Schanker worked for a public accounting firm, where she gained invaluable hands-on accounting and taxation experience. Ms. Schanker graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York with a bachelor's degree in accounting, and attended Baruch College and Hofstra University, having taken graduate level courses (MBA) in business management, marketing and taxation. She is a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners, National Association of Tax Preparers, American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers, WCBS Small Business Network, New York State Business Group, the Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce, and the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. Mindy R. Fuchs, Junior Accountant Mindy Fuchs joined BGS Services in 2006 as a junior accountant. Before joining BGS, Ms. Fuchs worked at Cowan Financial Group, a leading financial firm based in New York. While in their Insurance division, she gained extensive experience in the health, life and disability insurance industry. While in college, she worked at a local CPA firm as a senior intern, and part-time with us, here, at BGS. During that period she developed valuable skills in both taxation and bookkeeping. Ms. Fuchs holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Bernard Baruch College. She is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Taxation. Annelise Pichardo, Manager - Accounting Operations Annelise Pichardo joined BGS Services in 1996, bringing to BGS Services her invaluable financial experience. Ms. Pichardo has an extensive understanding of banking, both in the Primary and Secondary Markets. Her skills were acquired and refined in companies such as Bear Stearns, Bankers Trust Company and Fleet Bank. She is a residential mortgage expert. Ms. Pichardo began her career at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Clairol where she managed their co-op advertising program. Mona Bernazal, Senior Bookkeeper Mona Bernazal joined BGS Services in 1997 and is the senior bookkeeper. Ms. Bernazal brought to BGS Services her extensive experience in customer service, administration and bookkeeping.
